Headache & Migraine Massage

Headaches and Migraines are not the same, but there are similarities when it comes to how we approach them with massage.

The main focus of massage for Headaches is relieving tension in the scalp, face, neck, and upper back.  This may include stretching and massaging the ears, as they are directly connected to the neck and the scalp, as well as tissues inside of the skull.

The main focus of massage for Migraines is reducing cranial pressure.  This also includes massaging of the scalp, face, ears, neck and upper back, but may introduce intra-oral techniques, like gently massaging the hard palate or inside of the cheek.  These techniques can gently create space inside the skull, which may alleviate migraine pain and reduce the frequency, duration, or intensity of migraines.
